Tara K. Harper
WolfwalkerDion was a healer and a wolfwalker, and the unique telepathic bond that she shared with the wolf Gray Hishn sometimes seemed to amplify her sensitivity to her patients. But she never guessed how strong that bond could be, or what kind of power it could wield, until she found herself lost in the wilderness, with angry slavers at her heels and war on the horizon. Suddenly she and her fellow travelers were fighting for their lives in the snowy winter wastes, where the wolves were their only guides, the greatest secret of the ancients their only salvation...and Dion their only hope to survive.
From Library Journal
Pursued by slavers bent on revenge, a young woman and her telepathically linked wolf join a small group of desperate travelers who are inexorably drawn to an ancient mountain sanctuary that contains the key to a lost--and forbidden--art of healing. Vivid details of wilderness survival and a strong, resourceful heroine highlight this otherwise predictable quest fantasy. For large fantasy collections.

From the Publisher
I'm a sucker for wolves. I'm also a sucker for stories about humans who have telepathic relationships with animals (I especially like wolves--did I mention that?). I'd like to do things like climb sheer cliffs and shoot whitewater rapids, but I'm too scared of them. Tara Harper's Tales of the Wolves allows me to experience all of that vicariously. Too bad the wolf part isn't real--I don't think I'd be scared of that. Then again, Tara tells me wolves can be pretty nasty. And they are wild animals, after all. I guess I'll just stick to reading...
